From Permuted Press

In the small town of Clayfield, Kentucky, an unsuspecting and unprepared museum curator finds himself in the middle of hell on Earth. A pandemic is quickly spreading around the globe, and in less than a day has turned most of the residents of Clayfield into murderous zombies. Having no safe haven to which he can flee, he decides to stick it out in his hometown. However, zombies are not his only concern. He must also contend with other survivors, his lack of skills, and his own conscience.

If he is smart, and a little lucky, he can do more than survive; he can live like a king.

I just finished your books and wanted to drop you a line and tell you I found them to be very enjoyable. I enjoy the zombie fiction genre and read a lot of the books out there. In my humbe opinion, your King of Clayfield series is among the best I have read….anyways just wanted to let you know you had a fan out there and I look forward to the third book!

Just got my Kendle and have really got into zombie books. Probably from The walking dead AMC series. Your two books on King of Clay.. have been excellent. I am looking toward to the next chapter of the Clayfield saga.
As l read your books it made me wonder what would Andy and Barney do in Mayberry if they had a zombie problem. LOL

    • shane says:

      Hey Dave
Thank you! Clayfield is a lot like Mayberry, so your comparison is right on. Also, I LOVE the Andy Griffith Show! I think it is one of the best shows ever made.
I am working on the third book right now (as in at this very minute…just taking a break to check messages and FB). Thanks for buying the books!

I very much enjoyed your books, they are my favorite of the zombie/apocalyptic genre so far. The third will be a day one purchase for me. I appreciate what you do and am glad you decided to share your brain with us Shane.

  6. New author and series that I can’t wait to check out. I just have to ask though–
I read that Clayfield, Kentucky is based on a real place, Mayfield, Kentucky- how do the citizens of Mayfield feel about that? Do you get any crazy emails from them?

    • shane says:

      Hi Lisa
Not really. Everyone that knows about the books have been very supportive. I have have had a couple of messages from people who thought the story should go a specific direction. Most of them have commented that they see the town in a different way.

  7. Tim Stegner says:

Read both of the King of Clayfield books this weekend! Pretty disappointed that there isn’t a third to finish out the three day weekend! Will keep my eye out for the third and maybe fourth? Having read at least 50-60 zombie books the last few years this has to be one of the best.
Since my emails on this will I get an email saying the third book is ready? Thanks!!

    • shane says:

      Hey Tim!
Thanks so much for buying my books, and I am happy you liked them. There are links here on this page for my Clayfield Facebook and G+ pages. I will post there when the third one is ready. Also, right now, I am doing a book event over on BittenByBooks.com. Come on over, participate in the discussion, and get entered to win an Amazon gift card.
      Thanks again!

  8. Dave says:

Quick question here: what is the protagonist’s name?

  9. Robert says:

Great I just finished the first two and suddenly realized his name was never mentioned I think that’s wonderful. I was so into the book I never even noticed. I am crazy about zombie books but haven’t found any I liked lately. I am so glad I read these. You have renewed my interest in zombie books. I will definitely give any book of yours a try

    • shane says:

Thanks Robert! I I hope you enjoy the third Clayfield book too. Right now, I’m working on something non-zombie, but I like zombie and apocalyptic stories a lot, so I’ll probably come back to it at some point.
